Debenhams, the leading multi-channel retailer, sets shoppers temperatures rising with a host of exclusive offers launched for Black Friday 2016. Predicting sales to be over ten times the size of a regular Friday and forecasting a 600% increase in online sales, the retailer is offering a total of £250 million of savings.
Deals go live online from 3am on Friday November 27th and most of Debenhams 160 UK stores have extended opening hours from 8am until at least 10pm to cope with expected demand. On what is predicted to be one of the busiest shopping days of the year, with online sales set to exceed £1 billion [source Experian], Debenhams has drafted in 8,000 extra seasonal staff to work in stores across the country as well as putting a further 1,000 Head Office colleagues on the shop floor to support the event.
Debenhams’ leading exclusive Black Friday offers are:
Well-known brands such as Hugo Boss, Yves Saint Laurent, Paco Rabanne, Valentino, Victor & Rolfe, De Longhi, Kenwood, Breville, Nespresso and Raymond Blanc feature alongside discounts on Designers at Debenhams names including: Nine by Savannah Miller, H! by Henry Holland, Hammond & Co. by Patrick Grant, J by Jasper Conran and Jeff Banks.
The day is expected to drive 3 million visits to Debenhams.com. During peak hours the brand expects over 300 online orders every minute. In addition, an extra 1,500 staff have been drafted into Debenhams warehouses, a 50% increase on last year and 40% more drivers are lined up to deliver either for its brand new next day service or its click and collect delivery option.
Richard Cristofoli, Debenhams Marketing Director said: “Debenhams has traditionally always offered savings to customers on the last pay day before Christmas and the fact that there is now greater awareness of Black Friday as an event is a good opportunity as far as we are concerned. Our customers have told us that this week really kick starts the Christmas shopping season and they will be looking for inspiration for great gift ideas with savings that help their money go further.
“Black Friday is known for being an electrical led event and our customers want it to be that bit more fabulous. We’ve got our best offers of the season on fragrance and designer fashion.”
