Janet Reger, the queen of luxury lingerie, has been a name affiliated with beautiful
underwear for almost five decades and continues to confirm its status as the brand
of choice for exquisite underwear.
Janet attended the Leicester College of Technology in 1953 - a time when underwear
was functional, simple in design and predominantly black, white or shrimp pink.
Designing co-ordinated sets in a rainbow of coloured silks and satins, Janet
demonstrated her natural ability and flair to combine cut, elegant line with fit and
most significantly, style with practicality.
In 1965, having spent time in Zurich working as a freelance designer, Janet, with her
husband Peter and their young daughter Aliza, returned to London and the swinging
60's. Peter took samples of Janet's innovative designs to leading London department
stores and orders began flooding in. and the Janet Reger line was born.
Synonymous with femininity, seduction, romance and glamour, the brand's arrival
on London's fashion scene turned lingerie on its head, especially at a time when bras
were being burnt as a symbol of women's emancipation! Women and men couldn't
get enough of Janet's beautiful lingerie. With its innovative approach and beautiful
designs the Janet Reger brand quickly paved the way for other designers in this
arena and the look soon hit the high street with many a look alike and copies.
With a celebrity following from the early 70's, fans included Joan Collins, Elizabeth
Taylor, Princesses Anne and Margaret and later music royalty such as Tina Turner,
Madonna and Kylie Minogue to name but a few.
For 15 years, the Reger by Janet Reger for Debenhams collection has encapsulated
and recreated the glamour of the original Janet Reger designs and offered stunning
lingerie in luxurious fabrics at affordable prices.
Today, Janet's daughter Aliza continues Janet's legacy, carrying on the brand to bring
elegant, glamorous lingerie and swim wear collections to Debenhams Designer
Collections. Recently Debenhams developed a collection of charming and
witty homeware accessories with Aliza under the Reger label. A proportion of all
sales from Homeware collection will be donated to Breast Cancer charities.
