Manchester born designer Matthew Williamson demonstrated his unwavering creative vision from the very beginning of his design career.
Aged 18, he embarked on a Fashion Design course at the world famous Central St. Martins College in London. Graduating in 1994, his career in fashion began freelancing for Marni, followed by a position designing at British high street store Monsoon.
Matthew's first own-collection debuted in 1997 at London Fashion Week, modelled by Jade Jagger, Kate Moss and Helena Christensen. Entitled 'Electric Angels', it was a unique and pioneering collection that combined intricate beading and patterns with vibrant fabrics - a signature look that has come to define the Matthew Williamson brand.
Along with the cultivation of his own label, Matthew became creative director of Pucci in 2005, with his love of exuberant patterns and fabrics making him a perfect match for the company.
Matthew joined the list of Designers at Debenhams in 2002 with his hugely successful Butterfly by Matthew Williamson range. The collection extended from Accessories and Childrenswear into Womenswear in 2009, followed by Homeware in 2010, and Occasionwear in 2015.
With a celebrity following that includes Sienna Miller, Poppy Delevigne, and the Duchess of Cambridge, it is apparent that many share his love for colour - as do we at Debenhams.
