Julien Macdonald OBE, nicknamed the 'King of Glamour' is no stranger to the
catwalk, the red carpet or our screens. Having grown up in South Wales, Julien then
moved to Brighton to complete a textiles degree at the University of Brighton.
Following a Masters from the Royal College of Art in 1996, his work was soon
noticed. Among his many admirers were the late Isabella Blow and Karl Lagerfeld,
who Julien went on to work alongside, as well as Alexander McQueen. In 1997 Julien
launched his namesake label and in 2001 cemented his status by landing the role of
head designer at Givenchy.
Julien has dressed celebrities who are often praised for their stylish choices such as
Kim Kardashian, Kylie Minogue, Taylor Swift, Cher, Rita Ora, Kate Beckinsale,
Madonna, Paloma Faith, Kendall Jenner, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Kristen Stewart,
Florence Welch, Beyonce, Shakira, Heidi Klum, Lily Collins and Karolina Kurkova to
name a few.
Of Julien’s many achievements, he has also been named, British Fashion Designer of
the Year, Elle Designer of the Year, GQ Designer of the Year and has been awarded
an OBE from the Queen for his contribution to British Fashion.
In 2003, Julien began designing a women's collection for Debenhams - Star by Julien
Macdonald. This has since expanded to include Accessories, Girlswear and
Homeware. Star by Julien Macdonald offers glamorous garments that create
Julien continues to create stunning, catwalk inspired pieces for his Debenhams range
alongside his ready to wear line which he presents each season on schedule at
London Fashion Week.
