Born in Hong Kong, John Rocha CBE moved to London to study fashion aged 17. Over the course of his career, John has developed his own distinctive style which is constantly evolving and exploring through texture, new techniques, form and silhouette to create his collections. His aim throughout all his work is the creation of beautiful pieces.
In 1993, John was awarded the British Designer of the Year title, and since then has extended his work into other creative arenas. John Rocha at Waterford Crystal was successfully launched in 1997, ground breaking not only in its design but also as the very first designer collaboration in the medium.
John undertook his first interior project designing his own studio in Dublin, and since then he has worked on numerous interior and architectural projects across Europe, including commercial and residential developments.
In 2000, John became the first designer to launch five collections within the Designers at Debenhams range. The RJR.JohnRocha ranges include Menswear, Womenswear, Childrenswear, Accessories and Homeware. The RJR.JohnRocha, collections continue to go from strength to strength and have since grown to include Furniture and Occasionwear.
In February 2002, in recognition of his long-standing contribution to the fashion industry, John Rocha received the Commander of the British Empire (CBE) from Her Majesty The Queen. John also holds two honorary Doctorates, from the University of Ulster at Queens and University College for the Creative Arts, Epsom.
While fashion remains John’s first love, constantly evolving and developing, he continues to expand his portfolio of work and to explore ever-new areas of creativity and design.
